The Thompson Impact Scholarship Fund: Mission & Opportunity

The Thompson Impact Scholarship, founded by Hendrickson High School alumnus Tony Thompson Jr., was created to empower students from single-parent or guardian-led households. This $5,000 scholarship not only provides financial support for higher education but also offers lifelong mentorship to help recipients overcome challenges, unlock opportunities, and achieve their full potential.

About Tony Thompson Jr.

Tony Thompson Jr. is a proud graduate of Hendrickson High School (Class of 2010). During his time there, he was a three-year letterman in basketball and an active member of the Peer Assistance Leadership and Service (PALS) program.

After earning a degree in Business Administration with minor in accounting, Tony built a successful career as a consultant in the tech industry and now runs his own business. A devoted husband and father, Tony is a devoted husband to Kaylan Thompson and father to his children, Ava Thompson and Tony Thompson III.

Why We Exist

Growing up in a single-parent household raised by Tressica Thompson, facing early challenges after losing his father at 11, instilled in Tony Thompson Jr. a deep understanding of resilience and determination. He knows firsthand how crucial support can be for students who face similar obstacles. This fund is his way of giving back to students who embody that same spirit.

This scholarship is designed to ease your burdens, offer guidance, and support your dreams as you navigate your college or trade school goals. We live by the motto: "If it is to be, it's up to me."

The Thompson Impact Scholarship Fund is dedicated to empowering Hendrickson High School seniors by:

Honoring Resilience

Each recipient will receive a$5,000 scholarship, disbursed via ACH direct deposit to a bank account or directly to the recipient's accredited educational institution, as needed.

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for The Thompson Impact Scholarship Fund, you must meet the following criteria:

Single-Parent/Guardian Household

Applicants must come from a household led by a single parent or legal guardian who serves as the primary caregiver and financial provider. This includes:

  • Households led by one parent/guardian due to divorce, separation, death, or other circumstances.
  • Households where the parent/guardian is unmarried, widowed, or solely responsible for the family.
  • Non-traditional guardianship arrangements, such as those led by a grandparent, older sibling, or other legal guardian acting as the sole caregiver.

Academic Status

Applicants must be Hendrickson High School seniors who are enrolled or accepted into an accredited post-secondary institution, including:

  • Two-year or four-year colleges or universities
  • Vocational or technical schools
  • Community colleges or certificate programs

Academic and Personal Commitment

Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to their education and personal growth, shown through:

  • A minimum GPA of 2.5 (or equivalent) or a compelling personal statement explaining academic challenges and goals.
  • Evidence of perseverance, such as involvement in extracurricular activities, community service, part-time work, or caregiving responsibilities.
